There is no rugby club in all of England with more prestige and greatness than the Wigan Warriors. Forming in 1872, this club has a long list of championships that are second to none. They have captured 22 league championships and 19 Challenge Cup championships making them the most successful English rugby club of all time. Their top of the line program has seen some of the greatest rugby players of all, but none more important than Billy Boston.
Billy Boston grew up playing rugby union until he switched codes at the age of 19. His talent was easily recognized by Wigan who signed him in 1953. During the 1959 season, Boston led Wigan alongside of Eric Ashton to a marvelous season where they captured the Challenge Cup. Wigan Faced Hull F.C. who was no match for Billy Boston as he scored two tries in a 30-13 victory. Over 15 seasons with the club Billy Boston would etch his name in history by scoring a club record 478 tries in 488 appearances. Billy Boston would finish his rugby playing career with 571 total tries making him the second highest try scorer in all of Rugby League history.
