Designed by Canterbury for the British and Irish Lions rugby players, this stylish anthem jacket keeps one comfortable on crisp days. This polyester, full-zip jacket with a mesh inner lining is lightweight, durable, and has a bit of stretch. Ribbed collar and cuffs enhance comfort and zip side pockets provide safe places to store personal belongings. The red body features a rubber composite British and Irish Lions logo over the heart and a CCC logo on the right chest. A lion resides at the nape of the neck, a gold stripe on each shoulder and an embroidered 'SA' logo on the right sleeve, giving nod to the team's tour in South Africa.
The Lions rugby union team, made up of players eligible for the national teams England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland was founded in 1888 as Shaw and Shrewsbury Team. At that time, it consisted mostly of English players and some from Scotland and Wales. Later, the team’s name became British Isles and then British Lions was adopted. Prior to the 2001 tour of Australia, the official name became the British and Irish Lions, and has remained so since. Today, the squad consisting of players from all the Home Nations anxiously awaits its upcoming 2021 tour of South Africa in July.
