Gilbert MacDowell Precision Kicking Rugby Ball

Official MacDowell Precision Kicking Ball by Gilbert

Dream. Believe. Succeed.

Robin MacDowell, former Rugby Canada International player and 7's coach, has teamed up with Gilbert to develop a rugby ball that will enhance the rugby player's kicking game.

Featuring a Truflight Valve, a unique valve shape and placement that redistributes weight along the seams of the ball to improve rotational stability and enhance accuracy in the kicking game.  3 ply poly-cotton and cotton laminate panel means that the ball will weigh slightly more. The ball will perform better on longer kicks and passes, and generally hold its shape better than a ball of 2 ply construction.

The design includes a sweet spot target and inscriptions reflecting the MacDowell vision, reminding players to Smile, Dream, Believe, Succeed. It also includes pointers for hitting your mark, such as 'Target, Trajectory, Breathe, Head Down, Sweet Spot'.

This ball is one part of MacDowell's goal to grow the game of rugby. He looks to develop untapped talent and inspire young players to 'Dream. Believe. Succeed.' His vision is to develop athletes on and off the pitch, by giving them the tools to support their academic, athletic, and life aspirations.

1. In order to get the needle into the ball, dampen the needle with water.

2. The valve for the ball is situated in the main panel, but on the match balls the valve is hidden in the seam.

3. Make sure there is enough space for the needle to go all the way in without touching the facing inside wall of the ball. Not doing this may puncture the ball from the inside. Hold the neck of the valve with two fingers. Pinch it, wet the needle and slide it in.

4. It also helps to grip the entry point from underneath to make sure the needle goes all the way in.

5.The most mentioned problem when inflating balls is that the needle isn’t inserted into the bladder. If you hear air escaping, you haven’t put the needle all the way into the bladder of the ball.
